Hyannis is the largest of the seven Barnstable villages which include Centerville, Osterville, Cotuit, Marstons Mills, West Barnstable and Barnstable Village. Barnstable itself is diverse, including quaint historic inns & antique stores throughout many of the smaller villages. Barnstable streches across Cape Cod touching both coasts and encompassing various rivers and ponds. Despite its quaint appearance, Barnstable offers each visitior and resident an opportuntiy to enjoy their hearts desire.

The beauty of Hyannis ranges from historic homes to sandy, scenic ocean beaches. There are activities for sportsman including golf and fishing, fun for children with outdoor recreation, "living-museums", and organized acitivities year round. Along with the opportunity to be active, Hyannis offers walking trails and relaxation at local village squares and calming settings on the shore and amongst the greenery. Hyannis boasts, is the main village of Cape Cod's largest town and the economic center of Cape Cod. Hyannis Harbor, ever active with--ferries to the islands, fishing and sailing charters is landmarked with the Kennedy Monument and Museum. Main Street houses shops, restaurants, and a galleries. Hyannis is centrally located and offers a bit of everything the Cape is reknowned for.

The history of Barnstable includes incorporation on March 5, 1638, afer it was first settled as an agricultural community by Reverends Hull and Lothrop. Several generations maintained the agricultural paractices, until seagoing settlers helped develop the oceanic industries. There is a rich history from its agricultural roots to today's tourism business, which includes many well- and little-known figures of importance in art, science, politics, and travel.
