Guidance
The Guidance Department supports the educational mission of Sturgis Charter Public School through the provision of personal, academic, college and career counseling for students. We work in collaboration with teachers, parents and administrators to promote and enhance the development of all students.
In addition to addressing individual student needs, the Guidance Department at Sturgis works with students in accordance with grade level to deliver a relevant developmental curriculum. During the fall, Freshmen are introduced to the work of Myers and Briggs on personality type and we explore the implications that personality type has for learning style. In the spring, we revisit personality type with Sophomores and explore the implications that personality type has for college major/career. During the course of the year, Juniors learn how to use resources designed to assist them in identifying colleges/universities that are a good "fit." Our work with Seniors is focused on transition/college admissions and is conducted on an individual basis.
