School Sponsored Trips

Costa Rica, February 2013

From February 14th to February 22nd, 2013, students will explore Costa Rica on an EF Educational Tour.

During this tour, they will visit many of Costa Rica’s natural wonders, such as the Arenal Volcano, Monteverde rainforests, and the Santa Elena Cloud Forest. Local guides will give them behind-the-scenes looks at the Carara Biological Reserve, and Manuel Antonio National Park. They will also visit a local school, explore hot springs, go zip-lining, and see a cultural dance performance! All East and West students are encouraged to come; Spanish students are especially encouraged to come and practice their Spanish! For more information, please email Ms. Claire Shea at cshea@sturgischarterschool.org.

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and a great CAS opportunity and resume builder for our students. From day one of planning, students hone critical leadership, collaborative and self-care skills by creating the trip itinerary, meal and travel arrangements, budget, etc. themselves. Experienced local guides and Sturgis’ own enthusiastic teachers will offer guidance with a focus on maximizing challenge and minimizing risk. All challengers are encouraged to participate in team fundraising, part-time work, and odd-job efforts to help offset trip costs.
